Remediation
About Us
Teachers Defence Service advises teachers and others who are regulated in the education workforce of the UK.
What is Remediation?
Remediation involves taking steps to overcome one’s shortcomings or suboptimal practices. Evidencing remediation is not a straightforward matter and requires planning and thought.
A teacher or other regulated education workforce member will need to provide evidence of learning and updating to their employers and their regulators, as part of their learning journey.
Where to Start
Where to start will depend on what the concerns raised cover. Does the concern go to dishonesty or probity, inappropriate conduct, ill-health, a conviction, or poor language?
Attendance at a course alone will not be enough. Learning needs to be linked to conduct and the standards expected of the teaching profession.
Remediation requires that a teacher set out their alleged or accepted wrongdoing and identify ways to return to full practice.
